Well, we know who will volunteer to change the candle batteries 😂. Do you have a fearless child?

(And Daddy was at the bottom of the ladder because safety is a life skill we focus on. For obvious reasons 😂🤷🏻‍♀️😳.)

There is so much good our gracious Father has best

There is so much good our gracious Father has bestowed upon us. And it is worth fighting for!
.
Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for we are shaping a generation through every act of humble obedience. Through submission and love, grace and mercy, truth and justice- He molds us, and through us our children.
.
May this fight for what is good and right make us bold proclaimers of the Gospel and fearless defenders of our homes. Have courage and be vigilant, friends. This battle is fierce- but we know how it ends.

Prepping for SEHS and I’ve gotten a few of our H

I found many treasures today going through the pag

I found many treasures today going through the pages of my Mamaw’s Bible. This one was a bit curious.
.
I never knew Mamaw to be a bird lover, or a large animal fan. And yet- here at the beginning of one of my favorite books I found this beautiful peacock feather.
.
Perhaps she loved the regal feel of the feather and it reminded her of brave Queen Esther. I do wish she was here to ask 💖. In the meantime, this joyful bit of the Lord’s awesome creation has a new home on our nature shelf. And we have a new reminder of a dear one who we will see again someday.

Joy is everywhere, friends.

I sent this picture to my husband today while I was at a nursery. He- in reference to the empty spaces- asked, “Is that all you’re getting?” 😂.

I might love gardening as much as I do books and tea. I’m practically a modern day Lizzie Bennet 😉.

I have a homeschool bookshelf just for history and

I have a homeschool bookshelf just for history and biography and these are some of my favorites. I have found that by careful curation and keeping my suggestions to a minimum, my boys quite naturally gravitate toward reading these stories of great deeds, great thinkers, and great men- though some of the great men did awful things, they were great in the sense of history remembering their mark and are great for deep conversations about character.
.
I also have shelves for art, poetry, and a large collection of stories of brave deeds, noble quests, and heart changing literary friends who leave in your heart and mind a bit of their own courageous nature.
.
Reading well- both wide and deep- of true and beautiful literature is an art that feeds your soul and nourishes your faith. Being able to pass the gift of self-education on to my children through a home library and amazing conversations is a blessing.
.
My own soul is nourished through the work the Holy Spirit is doing in the hearts and minds of my children. While home education can be a Herculean task, the burgeoning of our sweet ones is such a beautiful reward.
.
Keep tromping over the narrow path, sweet friend. The rewards are many and precious. There is no greater joy than to know our children are walking in Truth.

When you see the man the child is growing into - i

When you see the man the child is growing into - it’s both a joy and a bittersweet insight. My mama heart is so pleased to see him settling into the habits of learning from, shadowing, and having deep conversations with his daddy. But that same joy comes with the sting of seeing my first baby budding into a young man who needs very different things from our relationship than he did even 6 months ago.
.
There is a remarkable wistfulness in parenting that no one ever warned me about. The heart tugs in so many directions that were never discussed. The number of times that anger or frustration would come out as laughter because children really are funny. The depth of love that accompanies each stage and make it something worthy of missing while moving into a new stage that brings even more delight. It’s a tangled, beautiful, hope-filled mess of love, joy, hurt, sadness, overwhelm, beauty- and the glorious glue that holds it all together and builds it into a legacy is faith.
.
What a humbling grace it is that our gracious Father lends His own sweet children to us for a time. No wonder parents are such happy people.

Charlotte Mason was a wise lady. The Great Recognition, as written in her second volume (page 270), is something worth reminding ourselves of very often. ⠀

We are ultimately a vessel through which the Lord works and instructs our children and any good that comes through us is FROM Him. ⠀
⠀
Hallelujah! It's a glorious thing to realize the burden of giving our children wisdom lies with Him instead of our imperfect selves. We just have to teach them in the manner the Lord instructs us to. ⠀

Another reason I'm thankful for homeschooling.⠀
